In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.
Its easy for us to read the letters of Paul as if they had been written just for us, the individual. The reality is that Paul wrote to churches, a collective body of people whom he declared to be the body of Christ.
If we read the text with an “individual mindset” we miss the real meaning of Paul’s message. In the individual mindset I lay claim to being chosen and predestined but in the collective mindset I recognise that Christ, and therefore His body, is both chosen and predestined.
Therefore anyone who by faith in God enters into the body becomes a partaker of the “every spiritual blessing” and its only IN CHRIST.
We so easily declare that we are chosen but miss the “In Christ”.
Eph 1:22-23 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
The fullness of Him, who fills all in all, is His body (us). When we enter into the body, all that is His, the fullness of Him, becomes ours.
Before my entry into the body I was not predestined! only on entry into the body do I gain the status of “Predestined” – you see its all IN HIM
